Lyceum of Hellenic Women of Kalamata
Τhe Lyceum of Hellenic Women of Kalamata (L.H.W.K.) is a non profit organization.
L.H.W.K.’s scope is the preservation of Greek traditions and customs as well as the contribution in the progress of Greek women.
As a result of its long and systematic work in the field of Greek folklore, L.H.W.K. has created a unique collection of rare and authentic Greek traditional costumes.
L.H.W.K. is a pioneer in the teaching of Greek traditional dances. Every year more than 700 people participate in its classes.
L.H.W.K.’s Dance Group performs with great success both in Greece and abroad. It has represented Greece in numerous international events and has traveled all around the world.
L.H.W.K.’s traditional choir performances are of a unique artistic value.
L.H.W.K.’s initiatives such as the organisation of traditional dance Festivals as well as folklor exhibitions contribute to the preservation of Greek traditional heritage.
Educational programms, seminars in traditional dancing and singing, excursions to historic places and museums contribute to the education of its students.
L.H.W.K. has published books on Greek folklore and has recorded authentic traditional songs. It has also participated in radio and T.V. broadcasts in Greece and abroad.
For its overall contribution, it has received numerous awards from public organizations and social institutions and has earned the respect of the community and the press.
In times of poor cultural diversity, L.H.W.K., following the vision of its founders, dedicates all of its effort to the preservation of authentic Greek traditional heritage.
